Personal
Richard and his wife Barbara have lived in Newtown since 1993. They have two children who attend Reed Intermediate School and the Newtown Middle School. Richard can often be seen around town chauffeuring the kids to dance and music lessons or to basketball practice. Because of Barbara’s involvement in the Flagpole Radio Café, Richard has helped the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission increase their presence on the internet and has recently taken over responsibility for their website.
Professional
After receiving his Bachelors degree, Richard taught Math and Physics at Amity Regional District No.5 in Woodbridge, CT before joining IBM in 1977. His 32 year career included stints in sales, education, consulting, research and project management. Providing innovative solutions to business problems across a diverse set of industries was his forte. He has used this expertise to bring the Wesley Learning Center, where he was president of the Board of Directors for seven years, onto the internet and improve their administrative efficiency. Richard was also a contributing member of the BoE Strategic Technology subcommittee as well as the BoE Strategic Planning group.
